Horticultural Grade: Very porous for holding air. Approximately 50% will float and 50% will sink which is ideal for soil building. Some pumice mines are also full of obsidian which is what perlite is made from and 100% will sink and not add the same air holding properties. When making potting soil, insist on horticultural grade.
